Chilly Winter Days

Last week’s weather felt like a nervous rookie in love, hearing the dreaded, ‘If you keep this up, we’re done!’

‘If winter’s going to be this lame, let’s just cancel it altogether this year?!’

Not wanting to be out of a job, Winter’s manager decided to rewrite the old rule of ‘삼한사온’ and blasted the city with cold winds all week long. People were…

This winter,

finally wearing those thick clothes they hadn’t touched,

chatting about weather like never before,

digging out those untouched boxes of hand warmers and stuffing them in their pockets,

and cranking the heater all day long.

But today, when I cracked open a window for some fresh air, the breeze wrapped around me like a delightful hug. It was chilly, but definitely different from yesterday.

‘This is definitely a spring breeze.’

No doubt about it. Winter’s manager must’ve handed the keys over to Spring yesterday. I opened all the windows in the house, adding a splash of Baileys Chocolat Luxe to my coffee. Welcoming spring calls for the unadorned voice of Jeongmilla. Her music has the power to slow down time.

Love,

Spring light,

Stars…

As her melodies filled the living room, Winter’s manager trudged back to their quarters. I silently whispered to their retreating back,

‘Better start planning for next winter.’

Because last week was truly epic.
