Wow, it’s already the second spring with COVID. Around this time last year, I thought it would just pass by. Who knew life would feel like being stuck in a classroom with the school bully till graduation? 🎓 Anyway, I’m slowly learning how to live within it. To be honest, life wasn’t all that special before COVID either. Yet, visiting a bookstore is still something I can do without much fuss. 📚

Seriously, what’s so captivating about this book that’s been sitting in the bestseller section for years? 🤔

‘Be a good person only to good people’, ‘I decided to live as myself’, ‘I pretended to be okay when I wasn’t’… I wonder if someone gets paid to come up with these titles. 😅

A book where the title says it all. I recall feeling a bit let down after reading ‘If You Want to Walk Until You Die, Do Squats’. A brief summary? ‘Do squats’. 🏋️

The novel vending machine of the publishing world – Higashino Keigo’s latest. It’s the fourth in a series of laugh-out-loud books, but if it were a mystery series, we’d be in double digits by now. 🤣

A deadly weapon sold in bookstores. Holding that hardcover vertically and striking the crown of your head, it feels like your skull might just split open. Personally, I find hardcovers too heavy and hard to open, so I usually skip buying them. 📖

What could it be? Something so good you’d want to share it with someone? 🤔

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s ‘The Little Prince’, a book read worldwide after the Bible and ‘Das Kapital’. I don’t necessarily want to be a writer like him, but I’d love to be a descendant of such a writer. I prefer the original illustrations over the book itself. Did you know Saint-Exupéry drew them himself? 🎨

I didn’t realize Junji Ito was still creating art. His ‘Uzumaki’ was truly the best. The best at being horrifying. 😱

Not sure if this person deserves a biography, but anything bound and placed on a bookstore shelf seems more impressive. Such is the charm of books. Although, I haven’t even opened it… (Not a fan of trot music) 🎶

While flipping through books is fun, browsing stationery and fancy items is equally delightful. 🖊️ Seeing this miniature in the desk decoration corner reminded me of a local I met in Paris by the Eiffel Tower years ago. She cautiously shared a ‘secret’:
‘The Champs-Élysées never closes, even at midnight.’
Back then, I was amazed to see most stores open past midnight, but now, they probably close early due to COVID. 🌆
….
End of my long-awaited bookstore visit story. ✨
