The endless meetings from morning finally wrapped up past 5 PM, and I was absolutely done. Not every day is like this, but that doesn’t make it any easier to bear. Desperately waiting for the clock to hit six, I dashed out the building just as the minute hand barely moved past the first mark.
Today, I’m going to buy Imre Kertész’s ‘Fate’
Imre Kertész was a Hungarian Jewish novelist, a Holocaust survivor, and a Nobel Prize in Literature winner. ‘Fate’ is his masterpiece, contrasting human dignity against inhumane settings. If I could just turn the first page of this recommended book today, maybe it would save this tragic day. Or maybe not. But hey, it just might. 🌟
With that thought, I wandered into the nearest bookstore and started rummaging through the novel section. I meticulously scanned the shelf alphabetically, but ‘Fate’ was nowhere to be found. Could it be on display? I’ve never really thought about the logic behind those arrangements… but now’s not the time to figure it out. Honestly, I just wanted my mind to be still. Is this destiny just out of reach? 📚
Standing there dazed, I noticed a computer for book searches beside the bookshelf. Who even browses through shelves to find a book these days?
I started typing on the keyboard.

Is this bookstore seriously ignoring a Nobel laureate?

Honestly, I didn’t expect the last one to work. Turning away in resignation, I suddenly realized I was hungry.
