San Francisco Express Half-Day Adventure

After being worn out by work life, my buddy finally took a break and came to chill in San Francisco. 🌉

‘Hey, this is my healing trip, okay? Let’s see what you’ve got for a San Francisco tour.’

‘Healing, huh? Any places you’ve been dying to visit?’

‘Nah, not really.’

‘…..’

If he had a plan, he wouldn’t have asked me in the first place. 😅

Despite all that, he woke up at noon the next day, scrambled around, and only managed to get ready by 2 PM. People say folks don’t change, and he’s still as laid-back as ever. Handling my own life is tough enough, but since I’ve got the mission, I decided to give it my all. After all, I’ve roamed every corner of San Francisco getting used to this place. By the time we left, it was already 3 PM. 🕒

Time to let our feet lead the way on this tour adventure!

First, we strolled three blocks down from home to catch a glimpse of San Francisco’s famous coffee cake at Super Mira, then headed to Japantown for a quick 5-minute browse each at Daiso and Kinokuniya Bookstore. After a leisurely walk down Fillmore Street, we hopped in an Uber to snap some pics at the twisty Lombard Street. 📸 Next, we hit Union Square for a photo at the Heart of San Francisco sculpture and spent a quick 3 minutes at the new Apple Store opened just a month ago. We then made our way down Market Street, explored Nordstrom (now closed post-pandemic) and Crate and Barrel for a total of 10 minutes, and rushed to the Ferry Building, sipping a mojito latte at Philz Coffee. We breezed through the artist stalls by the Bay, then dashed into the Ferry Building to snap a pic while shooting a cappuccino at Blue Bottle. A quick oyster stop at the nearby oyster bar followed by a photo pointing at Alcatraz. My buddy, craving a smoke, had one while we sprinted to MOMA just before closing, spending 5 minutes at the first-floor souvenir shop. 🚀 Another Uber ride took us to Columbus Street for a photo by Vesuvio Cafe, and a quick breather at City Lights Bookstore, a Beat Culture icon. We wrapped up by heading to Chinatown, browsing three souvenir shops for 5 minutes each, and striking a monkey pose on a monkey chair in front of a decor shop. We ended the tour with a steak dinner at my favorite Italian restaurant, Sociale, on Sacramento Street, returning home around 9 PM. 🍝

‘Dude, this is crazy. It’s harder than work.’

‘Then maybe you should go back to work for some healing.’

‘Haha, I need a cigarette.’

‘Don’t. You smell like smoke.’

‘I miss my office….’

Despite grumbling about being tired, my buddy set off to Las Vegas the very next day to continue his healing pilgrimage. 🌟 He’s bound to come back totally refreshed. If he returns to San Francisco by the afternoon, he’ll head straight to Alcatraz with his backpack, then to Sausalito for a famous burger at Hamburgers, snap some shots at the Golden Gate Bridge, and wander through the massive Presidio in search of the Yoda Fountain. 🚶‍♂️
