Tasty Spot: Jamsil Station Underground Chai Hong

With AI being all the rage these days, I thought I’d try writing a restaurant review like AI would. 😎

Starting today, I’m thinking about going on a food tour. On my way home, I stopped by Jamsil Station and noticed a whole bunch of new restaurants popping up in front of the Lotte World ticket booth. So, I thought, why not try each one and leave some reviews? Honestly, I don’t have much of a philosophy when it comes to taste; I usually find everything delicious. So, if you’re looking for a real foodie’s opinion, this might not be it. But let’s dive in anyway! With so many places to choose from, it was tough to decide where to start. I have a hard time making decisions, and often, I end up going home without buying anything. This time, I wandered all the way through the underground path at Jamsil Station, which led me to a place called Gourmet Bridge. It’s the end of the line for restaurants, so that’s where I ate. Inside, there were plenty of choices, but I settled on Chai Hong. It sounded familiar, yet not. This place is a Chinese restaurant, and I ordered the Jjamppong rice. Even though I wanted to try other dishes, I was suddenly craving it. Normally, I don’t drink soup while eating, so I rarely pour soup over my rice. But with Jjamppong, you mix the rice into the spicy soup. I hesitated for a moment but went ahead with it. The order came out unbelievably fast. I was just walking to the counter when I got a message that it was ready. It felt like it took less than a minute. I was a bit worried it might be pre-made or instant food. But no worries, it was delicious. The moment I saw the juicy toppings, I felt satisfied. I took a few sips of the broth and knew this couldn’t be bad. Initially, I thought I’d alternate between a spoonful of rice and sips of soup, but then I thought, “When in Rome, do as the Romans do.” So, I mixed it up! I thought I wouldn’t finish it all, but the squid and shrimp were so fresh. I devoured everything, even sipping the broth straight from the bowl. Really, I ate it all! Midway, I wanted more pickled radish, but the waiter seemed a bit intimidating. I hesitated but eventually asked, and he gave me a generous portion. After that, I paired each bite with pickled radish. The meal cost 12,000 won, which is pretty reasonable these days. There were a lot of high school students hanging out there, probably because of a nearby school or maybe they were just visiting Lotte World. A boy and two girls were having dinner next to me, and one of the girls looked a bit like an idol. I never had meals with girls in middle school, so I wondered if this was normal now. As I left, I saw a boy and girl holding hands, which surprised me. Isn’t that regulated by law? But what do I care? I headed home. I highly recommend this Jjamppong; I’d give it 4.5 stars out of 5. Would I eat it again? Not tomorrow, but maybe the day after. Definitely worth a try. The name’s Chai Hong, and they have other tempting menu items I’d like to sample. The end. 😊

Not entertaining enough? “-“?
