Experience is the Best Teacher: Elderly Wisdom on Removing Glue from Your Hands

A while back, the kitchen cabinet door fell off, and I had to use wood glue to fix it. Not being familiar with such tasks, I ended up with quite a bit of glue on my hands. No matter how hard I tried, soap just wouldn’t do the trick. Over dinner with an elder, I mentioned my sticky predicament. Out of nowhere, they rummaged through a fishing bag and handed me something.

‘Really? Well, try using this to scrape it off,’ they said.

‘It’s a line used for sharpening fish hooks.’

‘Oh, okay.’

Using physical friction instead of chemicals to remove glue from your hands was a novel idea for me. 🤔

‘Don’t worry, it won’t scrape your skin. Give it a shot.’

With some skepticism, I gently started to scrape, and to my surprise, the glue began to peel right off. 😲

‘Sometimes when glue hardens like that, it can be super annoying. And depending on the type of glue, things like acetone or nail polish remover might not even work.’

Years of experience turn into unique wisdom that works like magic. Even if it sounds unbelievable or theoretically flawed, it definitely works.

‘And if your phone’s Bluetooth won’t connect in the car, just give the lower part of the door a good kick…’

Oh dear, that’s not it, elder. 😊
