Library Love
Every library visit starts with a stroll through the new arrivals section. I’m more captivated by the crisp, unbent corners of fresh books than their content. π
‘Wouldn’t a bookstore be better?’
A friend once asked me this. It made sense that our chat about libraries naturally shifted to personal preferences.
‘Not everything in the new arrivals section is brand new, you know?’
They said. It’s often wiser to yield, but I couldn’t help myself. I assured them I’d never seen a used book there. To which they responded,
‘Can’t you tell new from old books?’
I thought, ‘I’m never eating with you again.’ I said this silently in my heart. π
Starbucks Shenanigans
Yesterday was my birthday, and a bunch of friends sent me gifts via KakaoTalk. Though I’ve critiqued the ‘two coffees and a slice of cake gift card’ before, receiving them is way better than not. So, here’s the deal: the gift card use policy for Starbucks cakes has changed. π
Last year, you could present the card in-store within a year and swap it for other items. This year, you have to order to your home within a week. (I got two, both the same deal) I don’t even want cake. Since late last year, Starbucks started crediting leftover gift card balances to their app, but maybe cakes are excluded. I haven’t given a Starbucks cake gift, so I’m not entirely sure. π
Fountain Pen Feels
Thought of my new fountain pen, so I pulled out a notebook to sketch. It didn’t come out well; in fact, it was a disaster. In this digital age, holding a pen feels awkward since we rarely write on paper. Suddenly, I worried about fountain pen and notebook factories going out of business due to digital dominance. But then I thought, “There are still people like me wasting ink and paper, so it’ll be fine.” ποΈ

Overtime Chronicles
Working until 11 PM on a Friday night at the office feels like a throwback. With the 52-hour workweek law in place for ages and remote work becoming the norm thanks to the pandemic, late-night cab rides have become a rarity. The days of working yourself to the bone are long gone, and honestly, nobody knows why we did it back then. Yet, there are times when we still find ourselves burning the midnight oil at the office. Mainly because none of us wanted to drag ourselves back in over the weekend, even if there wasn’t much to do then. π€·ββοΈ
Convenience Store Coffee Vibes
I left home early this morning. I felt like hitting the library for a change of pace. It wasn’t just the scent of books I craved, but a break from the rat race chasing after money. Providing peace of mind instead of emptying wallets felt more fulfilling. Anyway, I arrived to find the library closed. While pondering if it was a rest day, a kind lady returning books informed me, “They open at 9.” π
Spotted a GS25 nearby. Recently had a decent coffee from CU, so my trust in convenience store beverages was pretty high. Walked in eagerly and found a CAFE25 coffee machine. After paying for an Americano at the register, I placed the cup under the machine and hit βbrewβ. The aroma was weak (maybe my nose is just off), and as I sat down sipping while watching the world go by, it felt hot but not much else (guess I’m missing a flair for flavors). To be honest, it tasted pretty bland. (Just keeping it real here) βοΈ
