You won’t find metal music this dreamy anywhere else!
Seo Taiji’s Live Wire is definitely metal, but it feels like bright pop that a young girl might fall for. ๐ The gentle melody lines, the way the vocals and instruments harmonize during the chorus, and even the cheers of the young fans in the background… Yet, the drums, guitars, and bass demand incredible skill with their rapid pace. Especially the bridge, which could easily fit into classic thrash metal. This is why it becomes a top life song, whether you’re a girl, a young adult, or a metal enthusiast. ๐ธ
Particularly, the chorus ‘Now this fluttering heart…’ meshed with the guitar riff, sends adrenaline rushing through your veins. If the air pressure of this guitar riff could burst my eardrums, I’d gladly let it. Anyone might find themselves thinking, ‘If my eardrums must burst, let it be to this guitar riff!’ What a beautifully foolish thought. ๐ค
Watching the 2004 Live Wire performance on YouTube at full volume, with white confetti flying, I feel like Iโm being sucked back to last yearโs Pentaport Rock Festival and the Black Skirts performance. It’s a bummer I couldn’t go this year. ๐ถ
These concerts are a world apart from musicals, classical, or ballad performances. The pleasure mechanism is more akin to a spin class than a music listening room. By the end, you’re drenched in sweat, clothes all askew, feeling like you might collapse, and still uncomfortable until you reach home. Of course, the concert itself is a transformation from neatness to a kind of painful disarray, so physical discomfort is part of the deal. Yet, in such chaotic circumstances, my soul finds salvation in the music. ๐ค
For those seeking a near-enlightening experience, I highly recommend a rock concert. ๐ธ
