A few days ago, I found myself savoring a drink in a cozy izakaya. The place wasn’t exactly small, but with a stove right in the center, it had that charming vibe of being snug. A tiny window beside my seat framed the outside view like the blank space in a watercolor painting, adding an exotic touch to the atmosphere. 🌿
The snacks were mostly delicious, but the standout star of the menu was the banana liquor. 🍌 When you order it, it comes with ice that matches the width of the glass, and in many ways, it’s a bit of a trick. Firstly, it’s too tasty to be just a drink, and because of the ice, the drink seems deceptively less than you’d expect. 🎭
If we try to measure it, imagine the glass as a cylinder with a base radius of d, then the volume of the drink is πd^3/4, and the ice takes up πd^3/6. So, the ratio of ice to drink is roughly 2:1. I came here for a drink, not water… When I ordered another, they poured it over the melted ice, so I went for a third order when the ice was even more melted. But, they skillfully replaced the ice again. 🥶
I wanted to ask if they had some kind of standard, but the little buzz I had made me too lazy to bother.
From then on, I just order beer. 🍺
