Conjunctivitis 2

Compared to a month ago, most of my body’s condition has bounced back to normal.

My gum inflammation vanished like a magic trick after my friend’s miraculous nerve treatment, and my headaches also faded away around this time. (Probably caused by the toothache) The torn ankle ligament – though sometimes it gives a slight twinge – seems to have healed properly. Or at least I think it has. (still unconfirmed) The fascia pain I wrote about before… well, maybe I exaggerated a bit back then.

But this ‘conjunctivitis’ has been stubbornly tormenting me for over a month, almost two now. It’s driving me crazy! 😵 My eyes aren’t dry or painful, but the redness keeps coming and going, refusing to vanish. They must look bad because people often ask if I’ve turned into a demon. Some even say it’s terrifying.

I can’t see my own eyes, so I don’t notice it often. But occasionally, when I check in the bathroom mirror, I’m shocked. Sometimes they look wistful like a heartbroken soul, other times it’s like I’ve been stabbed with an awl, blood about to gush out. When I bow my head, it seems like blood might pour (sorry) – not really, but it sure looks like it.

A few days ago, I had my third consultation at a nearby hospital, but they keep prescribing the same eye drops. During the second visit, they said they weren’t sure of the cause – seriously! – and suggested using two types of eye drops for a month. So, diligently, I applied one twice a day, the other four times a day. Amazingly, the first day I used the drops, my eyes turned white! Someone even said it looked like I put in contact lenses. The wonders of modern medicine! But as soon as the medication ran out after a month, my eyes turned red again, like a bad dream.

During the third consultation, the doctor suggested using the drops again, but just one type this time. Because the other contains steroids and continued use could be dangerous. Dangerous?! No wonder my eyelids felt heavy like they were gaining muscle… I had been using that risky substance four times a day without fail. As soon as the doctor finished speaking, my vision seemed to blur. I blinked a few times and, strangely enough, my eyesight seemed worse. No, it’s definitely worse!

When I went to get the medication, a friendly-looking man remarked, ‘Why prescribe so much eye drops? Even if the doctor says four times a day, if it gets better, use it just once a day. Steroids aren’t good for you.’ Sir, why didn’t you mention this before? But something felt off. The doctor said they didn’t prescribe the steroid-containing eye drops.

‘But there are two types prescribed here?’ the man showed me the prescription. What a murderous, sinister doctor. Could it be the return of Mengele? Saying they prescribed only one but slipping in the steroid eye drops… Were they trying to conduct some secret clinical trial on me? I don’t know for sure, but it’s probably some eye drops slowly turning me blind. Maybe it’s connected to the Healthcare Privatization Project Headquarters or an underground gang.

Feeling gloomy, I returned home and applied the non-steroid eye drops. I waited ten minutes, and…

My eyes remain the same. Oh, my steroids…
Maybe this is how I’ll live…
