Baby, baby, there will always be
A space for you and me, right where you left it
And just maybe, enough time will pass
We’ll look back and laugh, just don’t forget itAnd maybe I’m wrong for writing this song
Losing my head over youAnd I’ll be here, ’cause we both know how it goes
I don’t want things to change, I pray they stay the same always
And I don’t care if you’re with somebody else
I’ll give you time and space, just know I’m not a phaseI’m always, ways, ways
Always, ways, ways
I’m always, ways, waysPretty lady, used to walk with me
Down Bloor street, oh, what a time
And I still remember the fussin’, the fightin’, the fuckin’, the lyin’
It’s all fine, you’ll always be mineAnd maybe I’m wrong (hey, babe, you could)
For writing this song (write me a song)
Losing my head over youAnd I’ll be here, ’cause we both know how it goes
I don’t want things to change, I pray they stay the same always
And I don’t care if you’re with somebody else
I’ll give you time and space, just know I’m not a phaseI’m always, ways, ways
Always, ways, ways
I’m always, ways, waysAlways, you can count on it, sure as the stars in the sky
Always, you can count on it, sure as the sun will rise
Always, my love for you ain’t goin’ nowhere
Always, I will be here
‘Always’ by Daniel Caesar. The lyrics are about a poor man’s mental triumph, but I couldn’t let it go because the mood of the song is so appropriate for a late fall or early winter night. All the instruments are dry and crunchy without being overdone, adding to the loneliness, while the vocals are full of emotion. Playing it a little louder in the room makes me feel like I’ve become quite the moody person.
These kinds of adult contemporary songs don’t usually catch my attention or make me want to listen to them all of a sudden, but when I stumble upon one that’s playing in the right mood, it’s hard to leave until it’s over.
Thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump….
Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande’s “Stuck with U” is one of those songs, and you can’t help but be drawn into its magical mid-tempo and the sweet and extreme conversations they have back and forth. Jeff Burnett’s ‘Cruel’ is the exact opposite story, but the tempo and melody reminds me of a present under the tree: ‘How could you take him to all the wonderful places I used to take you to? ‘ I feel so bad for her, even though the stalking is creepy.

Today is the last day of November, so starting tomorrow – until the New Year – it’s Christmas time, which makes it the perfect time to introduce you to Mama’s Gun’s “On a String,” whose melody and tempo seem like a perfect holiday customization. The lyrics are full of love wounds, but that’s none of my business. Personally, I love the artwork on the album jacket for this song even more than the music.
Merry Christmas in advance!
