A Packed Week

This week was a whirlwind 🌪️. I had to create some unexpected materials that needed to be jam-packed with content. What stressed me out more than the actual creation was not being able to focus on other tasks because of it. Crafting the materials wasn’t hard, but it did require time. So, over the holiday, I built a rough framework, and by the day after, I started shaping the pages according to plan. Despite the pressure of needing to submit everything by Friday, starting the week from Tuesday was a bit overwhelming. But hey, sometimes life throws you curveballs.

It would’ve been nice if these materials could be made piece by piece, but that’s not always the case. Still, there’s a silver lining. You don’t need to coordinate with teammates, manage critical paths, or integrate documents. Just translate the image in your mind onto the canvas. With my headphones on, listening to Yoon Seok Cheol’s album, I was like a locomotive 🚂, creating each piece of material step by step.

‘My soon-to-be husband is friends with Yoon Seok Cheol, and he’s playing at our wedding.’

I had already received the invitation and knew the wedding was next weekend. This friend, always with a bright smile, lifts the energy of everyone around and is incredibly competent at work. Plus, they’re a music lover with a listening range spanning from indie to mainstream. Before the holiday, they whispered this little secret to me. Yoon Seok Cheol, wow!

When I think of Yoon Seok Cheol, the track ‘During the Lesson’ comes to mind first. It’s about a lovestruck junior who skips lessons for a boyfriend or other excuses, and Yoon, slightly miffed, grumbles to her. After a few listens, you realize Yoon (probably) is eager to share his new composition with the junior he likes. He hands over his masterpiece, hoping for a great reaction, though staying cool on the outside. The song, ‘Enjoy, Music,’ overlaps with the scene of his work being played by someone else for the first time. It’s not flashy or overly technical, making it soothing to the ears. It feels like a Tuesday evening 🌆.

‘Can you not come?’

my friend grinned. Even if it wasn’t for Yoon Seok Cheol, I would’ve attended, but hearing that made me anticipate the wedding like a concert. And for three days straight, I listened to his album while creating the materials.

After wrapping up the materials, I had a sharing session on Friday afternoon. As I finished, thoughts of everything I couldn’t tackle this week started swirling in my mind, but I decided not to dwell on them. Walking out of the building, I descended to the underground shopping arcade by the subway station, where I spotted a macaron shop. Without a second thought, I picked three of the thickest, most neutral-colored ones and headed straight home. Still in my work clothes, I plopped down on the sofa and devoured them while listening to Baek Yerin’s ‘Square’ 🎧.

While eating, one friend sent a photo from a Friday night gathering, and another shared a picture of a dinner prepared for her newly promoted husband. It didn’t look like she cooked it herself, but it seemed pretty convincing. If she had made it, it might not have looked as fancy. After finishing the macarons, I leaned back on the sofa, feeling pleasantly fatigued. I chose a song to drift off to sleep with, Younha’s ‘Today, Seoul is Clear All Day’. It perfectly matched the sunny day we had 🌞.

‘I’ll fall asleep before this song ends..’

But I didn’t even remember hearing the intro.
