Getting a Haircut

Having a lot of hair and my unique philosophy on styling makes haircuts quite the ordeal. I can’t stand thinning it too much from the roots or using clippers on the back. But once that white cape is draped over me, I find myself as silent as a newborn. If the result isn’t to my liking, stepping outside becomes a no-go for a few days. πŸŒΏβœ‚οΈ

That’s why I’ve entrusted my hair to one person for a long time. It’s so convenient; I just say hello, sit back, and they know exactly what I like. Among all the familiar comforts in life, this is the best. It’s not easy to follow them from shop to shop, but it’s totally worth it. πŸ’‡β€β™‚οΈβœ¨

Way back, there was an assistant who helped with my hair. She was so tall, with big eyes and a perpetually blank face. The first time she washed my hair, she accidentally soaked my back and was so apologetic. She must have been under twenty then. We became familiar enough to chat, but one day she disappeared, and I later heard she’d gone to study in China. πŸ“šβœˆοΈ

After quite some time, I sat down for a haircut, and there she was, greeting me with a friendly smile. She’s a director here now. πŸŽ‰

‘If the senior stylist isn’t available, I’ll take care of you.’

She walked to her client with a slight smile. Still tall, still expressionless, but now radiating charisma. During her time away, she must have worked steadily to reach this point. Just like any career, you start from washing hair and slowly work your way up to cutting clients’ hair, using assistants, and placing your business card on the counter. It reminds me that nothing in this world comes easy. πŸŒŽβœ‚οΈ

Watching her skillful scissor work, it was my turn to wash. I leaned back as the water hit my hair, making it heavy. She carefully wet my side hair with her hands rather than aiming the showerhead directly, ensuring no water entered my ears. I felt like if she poured any more, my eardrums would drown, but thankfully, she finished. Moving to the back, water trickled down my neck, and she asked seriously if it was getting in. πŸ’¦πŸ‘‚

β€˜Hardly at all.’

I assured her it was barely noticeable. Though still learning, I hoped she’d become a charismatic hairdresser, enduring tough times gracefully. After all, getting my back wet might just be the charm. πŸ˜‰
