On the first basement level of World Tower, there’s a super cool place called ‘Seongsu Art Gallery’ where you can paint. 🌟 One day, while wandering lost in the basement, I stumbled upon this hidden gem. For just 20,000 won, you can dive into a world of colors for two hours. No need to order coffee, but the painting fee is a must. It’s more of an art studio than a cafe, right?
Everything you need is provided: canvas, brushes, paints, buckets, palettes, paper, colored pencils, and pastels. No prep needed—just bring your creative spirit. 🎨 They’ve even got canvases with sketches ready for you.
‘Would someone really come here without any idea of what to paint?’
Looking around, I noticed most people chose canvases with pre-drawn sketches, simply painting over them. Well, picking colors creatively is all that matters. Besides the essential art gear, they give you aprons to protect your fancy outfits from paint splashes. They’re thick and nice. Perfect for wiping the water off brushes too. (If that’s a no-no, I apologize!)
Today, I went with paper since there were no blank canvases, and wow, it was massive. After sketching, I felt drained, and the idea of painting anything more was daunting. I have newfound respect for art students and majors. Honestly, even binge-watching a fun drama for two hours can get tiresome. 🎭

They even had a set of 32 colored pencils, so I tried drawing a dog. 🐶 I’m not the most patient person, so I rely on ideas more than endurance, but art demands more than just creativity. If my mom hadn’t stopped me, I might not have made a living. Thanks, Mom. But hey, being told that even the neighbor’s dog could draw like me was a bit of a sting. (Parents, please hold back on such comments.)
If I had to point out a downside, it’s that being next to a restaurant area means lots of foot traffic. For those who are skilled artists, that might be a plus. Despite considering myself good at doodling, filling a large canvas is tougher than it looks. As I mentioned earlier, just sketching is exhausting, and painting is a whole new level of challenge. When someone watches from behind, you just want to disappear into a hole. I’d love to turn around and shout, ‘Please, don’t expect too much!’ But they probably aren’t expecting anything anyway… 😅
All in all, if you’re someone who enjoys painting, it’s the perfect way to spend a lazy weekend afternoon. 🎨
