Freedom Found in the Value of Sweat: Rediscovering After a Breakup

I’m done dating men for now.

These words can’t always be trusted. Sure, in the heat of the moment, you might feel that way. Breakups can be overwhelming and heart-wrenching experiences. But remember, wounds do heal. 🌿

‘At first, he always offered to walk me home after we parted, even though I said I was fine. It was considerate of him, and I wanted to return home comfortably. But that day, I was in so much pain. When he sent me off without a word, I sensed something had changed.’

There must have been other complex changes and puzzling situations. Nonetheless, she decided to break up, and he accepted it without much argument.

‘What’s so cool about it? No holding on, just parting ways like turning off the living room lights before bed. Is breaking up really that easy?’

It varies with each situation. Sometimes it’s a clean break, other times it’s like trying to stretch dough, messy and drawn out. Initially, I thought one way was better, but now I realize there is no right answer. Too many factors influence that moment, and countless formulas generate the final outcome.

‘So, to get over it, I went to the club with a close friend and danced like crazy.’

She might not seem like the best dancer, but if she felt like hitting the dance floor, maybe she surprised herself. Or maybe there was another reason to hit the club. Whatever the case, as soon as she arrived, she started dancing, losing herself in the music. It was as if she was born to preserve the dance gene, with her mind filled only with instructions to move. She and the dance became one.

‘It was so hot in there.’

When you’re that focused on dancing, there’s no way to stay cool. She felt the sweat soaking her back. In a place where few truly danced with such passion, you could sense the depth of her sadness. To cool off and catch her breath, she stepped outside for a moment and asked her friend for help.

‘Can you unzip me a bit at the back? It’s too warm…’

The cool evening air seeped inside as the zipper slid down a notch, and her dress returned to room temperature. In that moment, she felt homeostasis and realized men weren’t a necessity. Refreshed, she returned to the club, dancing even harder, with her friend loyally by her side. That friend is surely a true companion, as no one else would approach someone drenched in sweat.

‘Anyway, I felt much better afterward. Now, I spend my time on self-improvement, like studying English or exploring wines…’

People often say that two incomplete individuals come together to form a complete whole. Personally, I believe even if you’re incomplete, you should stand tall on your own, and when two such individuals meet, they don’t just become one—they create additional synergy, keeping the relationship healthy. In that sense, her self-development is a solid foundation for meeting someone even better in the future.

It may hurt now, but such thoughts and experiences fit well with that phase of life. When you’re young, beautiful, and everything still feels uncertain. One thing life teaches is that every experience ultimately becomes an asset, and I hope she endures to become a stronger, wiser person.

Of course, I doubt she’ll just stick to exploring wines… 🍷
