Hold on a sec.
She gently removes an eyelash from his cheek while he stays still. ❤️
‘So, you’re planning to write resumes with that friend on Monday?’
As she tries to free the stubborn eyelash, she continues chatting, lightly tapping his cheek. He’s familiar with this scene, so he closes his eyes slightly and continues his report. 😌
‘But think about it. Is that job really what you want? You don’t even know what it involves. And why are you always hanging out with that friend? It doesn’t seem helpful for either of you.’
With wide eyes, she stares at him. Silence. He turns his head slightly, clears his throat, and continues his reasoning, but his voice lacks confidence and isn’t very convincing. It’s a bit scary to expect someone new to the workforce to deliver philosophical debates, yet his slumped shoulders seem so vulnerable. Just moments ago, he was brightening her day with cheerful topics, but now the mood has flipped, thanks to a fallen eyelash. ‘I shouldn’t have blinked,’ he thinks. But hey, buddy, it’s not about the eyelash. 😉
She sighs softly, adjusts her sweater, and gazes out the window. More silence. She fiddles with her smartphone, applies lip balm, and brushes back her hair, then looks at him again. Although his face isn’t clear, he probably looks like a suspect in front of a bad cop before an interrogation. ‘Why was I even there at that moment?’ might be the only thought in his head. Her deep, dark eyes are like the Mariana Trench, hiding her thoughts completely. Just darkness. He seems to momentarily hold his breath.
‘What do you want for lunch?’
She asks with a slight smile. He responds with excitement, like an Eskimo greeting the first spring breeze after a long winter. 🌸
‘Whatever you want to eat!’
Watching his expression change so quickly, I feel like I’ve unlocked the code of their relationship. I hope he grows up fast, but that’s not an easy task. 🌱
‘Before meeting her, start by checking out nearby food spots, my friend. Even if you don’t say anything, she’ll eat what she wants anyway.’
