Reality dating shows aren’t usually my thing. The only one I ever really watched was Heart Signal 2. Everyone keeps saying how fun they are, but for some reason, I just don’t get into them. 🤷♀️
‘Recently, some old contestants from a past show made a comeback.’
Ah, that show… I never watched it, but I remember they called people by numbers like ‘No. 1’ and ‘No. 2,’ and they wore uniforms that looked like prison outfits. I recall it got canceled after a tragic incident. Anyway, I always wondered why people watched that when there are beautiful stars all over the channels. My friend kept talking about the contestants and how one guy from season 18 had changed so much over 10 years. 😮
‘Why do men’s faces get bigger as they age?’
Honestly, that’s something I’ve been curious about too lately, alongside quantum physics. My curiosity started with Heechul from Knowing Bros. His face seemed big for a celebrity, and when I saw his debut photos, it was like looking at a different person. Could just the face change while the body stays the same?
‘If you look closely, the eyes, nose, and mouth don’t change much. It’s the edges of the face that expand. At first glance, you might think the features are becoming more central, but really, it’s the outer area that’s growing.’
That’s so true. Even with Heechul, his face center remains the same. But the distance between the ends of his eyes, ears, cheeks, and jaw seems to grow. Who knows if it’s extra flesh or just fullness?
‘It’s the same with Ahn Jung-hwan. His body doesn’t look heavier.’
As she spoke, she searched for photos of soccer star Ahn Jung-hwan in his youth and showed them to me. He looked like the most dashing heartthrob gazing at a goalpost. Even his sweat seemed like it would smell sweet. She then started looking up his recent pictures. 🕵️♀️
‘He’s still handsome, for sure. But to be exact, he’s just a good-looking older man now.’
In the second photo, Ahn Jung-hwan was smiling, but that grin didn’t quite shine. The increased skin area around his mouth stood out. If he were sweating, I might have thought it would smell. But aging is a cosmic, natural process, something we should embrace and celebrate, right? 🌌
‘Do we really need to celebrate it though? And face expansion seems different from aging. Not everyone experiences it. Maybe it’s from chewing hard foods, strengthening jaw muscles, like how squats bulk up thighs.’
That makes sense. Comparing photos, it’s hard to believe bones stay the same, yet grow? It’s all a mystery. I felt an urge to press my fingers into Ahn Jung-hwan’s cheekbones. But why did she suddenly become so interested in this phenomenon?
‘I’ve been posting videos on YouTube, and my husband’s face seems to be getting bigger.’

For her, it was a very real concern.
Right next to her was someone whose face was gradually getting bigger.
Let’s clarify, her husband is quite handsome, and his face hasn’t grown that much. 😌
