I think I need to dive back into romance ASAP.
It hadn’t even been three months since I declared I wouldn’t date again. But you know, life has a way of pulling you back into things you thought you’d left behind. There must be a reason if I’ve already had a change of heart.
‘I went clubbing with a friend recently. Got all dolled up after ages, and oh boy, it was wild. Not kidding, it was insane. Yet, I felt no thrill.’
Breakups are as common as stars in the night sky, but the tough times that follow are universally relatable. Totally get it. π
‘Lately, I’ve been feeling so lethargic. I don’t even sort recyclables properly. You know how you keep promising yourself to work out, sort recyclables, wash your face, but keep pushing it off? Yeah, that’s me.’
I’m clueless.
‘It’s unsettling to realize I’m not who I used to be. And now I’m breaking out too!’
Even when tired, washing your face is essential. Out of all the life lessons, brushing after meals and washing your face morning and night are the few that stick. So, if you’re not doing it like before, it means you used to be more diligent, right? Didn’t know that.
‘Oh, I was super prompt. I’d think of something and do it right away…’
She says her personality shifted after her breakup. Everything felt like a chore, and once home, she didn’t want to do anything. No cleaning, no dishes, no trash disposal. Clothes would pile up, and showers were a no-go. Even dust bunnies rolling around the living room felt more like a desert tumbleweed than a mess. As long as she didn’t start collecting boxes or bottles, her place wouldn’t turn into a garbage dump. Reminds me of a show where volunteers had to help someone clean their home, and they hauled out enough trash to fill a 1.2-ton truck. Seeing the owner happy with the clean space, you’d think, ‘Yay, more room for trash!’ π
‘What are you talking about? It’s not that bad, is it?’
If it was, I’d probably skip lunch with her – my tolerance is low. If she’s too lazy to move, what does she do at home?
‘I turn on Netflix and watch ‘Heeramandi.’ Have you seen it? It’s about the Tawa’if of India, kind of like our courtesans. The colors are amazing, and the ladies are stunning. Watching it, I glanced at myself in the mirror and was shocked by the difference.’
With breakouts, that feeling might have been stronger. If you notice such a gap, maybe a little skincare or makeup could help bridge it…
‘Nope. I just avoid mirrors. I mean, itβs not even a fair competition. You know what I mean, right? If the gap isnβt huge, you might feel competitive, but… This drama is unique. Bollywood usually has those random song and dance numbers.’
Does this drama skip the dancing?
‘Oh, they dance. But unlike other films where you wonder why they’re dancing, this feels just right. Talking about it makes me seem odd. But really, with all the drama – two wives, two husbands – how can you not watch? While someone has two, I have…’
To lighten the mood, I asked about anything fun she’s discovered lately.
‘Have you seen the ‘Malatanghuru’ challenge trending on Reels? It’s like, ‘Senior, buy me malatang! Senior, maybe… tanghulu too…?’ and you dance to it.’
She gave a playful little dance. π
It’s clear her club popularity wasn’t because of her dancing. π
