The Wonders of Modern Medicine

It’s been three weeks of having bloodshot eyes. They don’t hurt or feel uncomfortable, so I wasn’t too worried. But just when they seem to get better, they suddenly flare up like a furnace ๐Ÿ”ฅ, repeating this cycle for weeks. It’s becoming quite stressful. Some said it looked like I was deep in thought or had an intense gaze, but most thought I looked like a devil on the verge of shedding bloody tears ๐Ÿ˜ˆ. I couldn’t leave it like that, so I visited the doctor after three weeks.

‘You’ve got allergic conjunctivitis.’

The doctor diagnosed me way too easily after just a quick look ๐Ÿ‘€. Shouldn’t they ask a few more questions? I once discovered that you can close the cap of a disposable eye drop container, so I used one for three days. That’s when the redness started, so I suspect it’s related. What if it’s bacterial or viral conjunctivitis? But once a diagnosis is made, no doctor will change it just because of a little chat. If the doctor suddenly exclaimed, ‘Oh… in that case, it might be bacterial conjunctivitis!’ I’d immediately ask, ‘Then why did you say it was allergic conjunctivitis?’ and label them a quack ๐Ÿฅ.

‘I’ll prescribe you eye drops. Humetoron to reduce inflammation and Lightolon as an antihistamine. Use Humetoron four times a day, and Lightolon twice. Wait at least 5 minutes between different drops. I’ll also prescribe artificial tears; use them often. Cool artificial tears can help reduce inflammation. Additionally, I’ll give you an allergy pill to take once a day at the same time each day.’

Though I’ve never had allergies before, I tend to follow doctors’ orders pretty well, so I diligently applied the drops. Three times with Humetoron, twice with Lightolon, a single dose of artificial tears, and one allergy pill later, people around me were amazed at the power of modern medicine. One friend even said,

‘Your eyes are so white it’s scary.’

Well, it’s not that extreme, but it was surprising. ๐Ÿ˜…

It wasn’t that dramatic, but it did catch me off guard.

I am no longer a devil ๐Ÿ˜‡
